Learning and development take any organization to higher levels and can be known as people-oriented firms. This helps the organization to achieve its goals in a very a lot of smarter means.

Learning and development definition given by CIPD

The organizational process of developing people involves the integration of learning and
development processes, operations and relationships. Its most powerful outcomes for
the business are to do with enhanced organizational effectiveness and sustainability. For
the individual they are to do with enhanced personal competence, adaptability and
employability. It is therefore a critical business process in for-profit or not-for-profit organizations.’

And described by Amstrong (2009 as follows)

Once learning and development strategies take part in the strategic plan of any organization it ensures that people in the organization acquire and develop the knowledge, skills and competencies. By doing this organization get the benefit of its people being effectively on the job and for their own career advancement. (Armstrong, 2009)

The elements of this process are

Learning: This is directly associated with the experience and develop bit by bit through experience and practice. A relatively permanent modification in knowledge, skills, attitudes or behavior that comes through experience.
defined by Bass and Vaughan (1966) as
‘a relatively permanent change
in behavior that occurs as a result of practice or experience’.

Education: the development of the knowledge, values and understanding
required in all aspects of life rather than the knowledge and skills relating to
particular areas of activity.

Development: the growth or realization of a person’s ability and potential through
the provision of learning and educational experiences.
Training: Most of time this is provided by the organization to increase job knowledge and skills of the employees to match with his job role.

Kolb's Learning Cycle is a well-known theory that argues we learn from our experiences of life, even on associate everyday basis. It conjointly treats reflection as associate integral a part of such learning. according to Kolb (1984), the method of learning follows a pattern or cycle consisting of four stages, one in all that involves what Kolb refers to as 'reflective observation'. The stages are illustrated and summarized below

Kolb's Learning Cycle

Stage 1: Experience
(Kolb's "Concrete experiences")

 Stage 2: Reflect

(Kolb's "Reflective observation")

Stage 3: Conceptualise
(Kolb's "Abstract conceptualization")

Stage 4: Plan
(Kolb's "Active experimentation")

    3. We have face the issue same as when introduced Therese wheeler to Sri Lanka roads while 1980s. But implemented the project with shortcomings and generalized the process. There should some fine tune the process while it is in the practice. Now we experience that the Three wheeler s are essential requirement to the society.
According to the Kolb,s Learning Cycle Tab for student will success in future with a process fine tuning and adjustment.

  3. Most employees will have some weaknesses in their workplace skills. A training program allows you to strengthen those skills that each employee needs to improve. A development program brings all employees to a higher level so they all have similar skills and knowledge.

  4. I think as a country our education system has to focus on making people who can think, not just the people who only have the ability to do what they learn. A good thinker could makes things way more better than a one who just do what he learn from text books.
